Your Mindset, Your Health
By Janet Daughtry Christian Life CoachingEvery New Year’s Day, people focus on improving their health by going on a diet, getting back to the gym, etc. There’s nothing wrong with any of that. Most of us would do well to up our game when it comes to our physical health. However, have you ever considered that what you think and how you think could be impacting your overall health and wellbeing also?
Scientists now agree that there is a major connection between our thoughts and our bodies. That’s not surprising to me! Afterall, we are interconnected beings. For example, if you feel physically tired or exhausted, it affects your mood and your mental state. If you are using a lot of mental focus and energy to solve things, it can leave you feeling a bit drained or tired physically. Likewise, if you went through a very stressful and emotional experience for a whole day, the next day you may find yourself physically wiped out. Too often we are not aware of how many negative thoughts bombard us daily.
According to the National Science Foundation, most people’s thoughts are about 80% negative and 95% are repetitive daily. So, it is not just that brownie you ate that is the sole problem. When it comes to our health and wellbeing, diet and exercise are great and important but not the complete solution. If we don’t change or challenge our thinking, it could undermine anything we try to do on a physical front. For example, if your mind is filled with negativity, anxiety, insecurity, or fear then it will not only keep you stuck in life but over time could make you depressed or physically sick!
At the end of the day, we are what we think. What we think and how we think really matters. If we want to change our lives, then we must consider how our own limiting thinking truly limits us, keeps us stuck in life, and may be even take away from our overall health and wellbeing.
Because I believe in this so strongly, I recently put together a five-part video series (Master Your Mindset: Conquer Your Limiting Beliefs) to help individuals learn how to shift their thinking and change their life. From my years of working with clients and as a coach trainer, these are proven and strategic strategies that really work! You don’t have to stay stuck. In fact, this can be your best year ever!
