When I was a kid, I imagined all kinds of things about my future. For children, using their imagination is as easy as breathing. It is something they naturally do. For adults, not so easy. I believe it is a little harder for us because we have been down the road a bit and experienced life with its ups and downs.
We adults may not even be sure that we want to dream. If we dare to get the courage to do some dreaming, we may become discouraged by others. Or, we may be told that we need to get our heads out of the clouds and come back down to reality.
I believe dreaming is in everyone’s DNA and isn’t just for kids. In fact, without a dream or a vision about what we want to do in life, life can become rather mundane and purposeless.
Having a dream or vision keeps us motivated, engaged, and propels us forward in life. It keeps us excited about life! Without a vision, we lack direction or purpose and wander around aimlessly.
What are you dreaming of in the new year? I recently started putting together a vision board of things that I want to see happen in my life. My vision board is filled with pictures, quotes, slogans and visuals of things that I want to see happen. I look at that board daily and it reminds me of my goals and aspirations. It keeps me inspired, energized, and motivated. It propels me forward in my thinking and ideas about how I could accomplish some of those goals.
Having a dream or a vision is a powerful thing. So, please don’t stop dreaming. You are never too old or too young to begin thinking about who you want to be and what you want to accomplish in this amazing journey called life!
