Sacrificing “Better” for “Good”

By Christian Life Coaching

“I am so busy.” Yet when asked what are we so busy doing the response might not be so definitive. Somehow, we just don’t know where the day went, but we do know that we are busy! I find most people are really good at being busy, including me as well. In fact, we do it rather effortlessly. No problem!

There is a difference however, with being busy and being productive. With all of the running around are we doing anything of significance or are we just going around in circles?

Somehow being “busy” and “effective” are not always one and the same thing. It is easy to get caught up in doing a lot of things and even good things, but that doesn’t mean that we are hitting the mark or accomplishing our goals.
Wouldn’t it make sense to invest your time in the things that matter to you? Wouldn’t it be better to do the one “right” thing for you that you are interested in doing, motivated to do or even gifted to do than 100 other “good” things?

Here is even a better question to consider. How might you be sacrificing the “better” or “best” in your life for just the “good”, the “acceptable” or “just good enough”? Next time you find yourself busy, ask yourself the question ~what am I being busy about and for? More importantly, how does it line up with my goals, plans and life direction? If it doesn’t, then maybe we need to say “no” to some good things so we can say “yes” to the better things and what really matters!
