What a Mother’s Day I had!
I got to watch my eldest graduate with honors as a respiratory therapist. That’s a pretty good gift I would say. There are defining moments in life and certainly this is one for her. As I looked at those young people receive their diplomas and saw their excitement and heard their cheers I couldn’t help but think back to my own graduation. Where did all the years go? My thoughts quickly swirled through accomplishments and achievements, the missed opportunities and the “what ifs” of life. I couldn’t help but think ahead and wonder what’s next for them? Will this be the first of many achievements or will it be the last?
The commencement speaker had just given a good speech with excerpts from the book, Good to Great and challenged the graduates to reach higher in life. Why settle for a good life when you can have a great life? Did they really hear what she said? Did my daughter really hear? Do any of us really hear?
The longer I live I realize that time is precious and it truly is the one thing you can’t get back. What about you? Are you living the good life or a great life? I don’t know about you but I believe you and I were born for greatness!
