As a professional life coach, I like to help people write new chapters and new stories about their lives. Often people are stuck in their past or their pain. That makes me sad because I believe people can always write new chapters and stories. But, you can’t write a new story if you allow your pain or your past to define you and become your constant story.

I don’t believe this has to be the case. I tend to think that if you survive something major in your life, you are a SURVIVOR! You are also stronger than you know. Have you ever considered that the horrible things you have gone through or experienced were not meant to destroy you? They were there to make you stronger, so that one day you would not only be stronger but a real force for change in this world. It is important how you see it.

As a person of faith, I believe God is not finished with us or our story. If you feel like you have failed miserably, you are in good company. There were many people in the Bible that failed miserably and God still used them powerfully. It reminds me of the lyrics of a song by Tauren Wells, “God’s Not Done with You” …

God’s not done with you
Even with your broken heart and your wounds and your scars…
It’s not over, it’s only begun
So don’t hide, don’t run
Cause God’s not done with you.

So, what about you? How do you view your story? It matters. Wherever you are in your life journey or story let me assure you that if you are here, you are stronger than you know. More importantly, I believe God is not done with you or your story!
